Lillian Hughes needlepoint 1978

The ‘Little Library’ (adjacent to the Library) has been used for many purposes over the years. Once it was the North Chatham Post Office. For several decades beginning somewhere around 1955 Lillian Hughes lived in the Peck house. She and many friends held a needlepoint group that met there. This is one of two pieces of Lillian’s handiwork which are on loan to the NCFL. In the spring it will be back into the ‘Little Library’ along with a picture of its creator. The other piece is in the main Library on the wall leading to the downstairs. Currently the tradition of joining together in craft time is continued by Sandy Wooding’s Knitting group.
