The Live & Learn Committee hosted a program Feb 7 in the Library with Zero Waste, a Columbia County/national movement whose goal is to send zero waste to our landfills. Their philosophy of “even small changes can have a bigger impact than you realize” recognizes that each household can incrementally progress to that ultimate goal. Presenters shared the exciting news that Columbia Co. has purchased a bio generator to reduce the impact of food waste/organic matter. It will be housed in Greenport with collection containers located at substations. The program may be available by March. Keep watch for the County’s announcement and educational information on the bio generator.
