The North Chatham Free Library is serving up “Cultivating a Plant-Based Diet” on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 3:00 to 4:15 pm via Zoom. Program attendees will have the opportunity to join Karen Roberts Mort, nutrition educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County, in cooking right along with her in their own kitchens or just watching as she prepares two delicious and nutritious plant-based dishes.

According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, research shows that well-planned plant-based diets reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers and depression. Plant-based diets consist of mainly whole, plant-based foods including whole grains, beans, peas, lentils, vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts.

Pre-registration for this Enriching Life, Increasing Knowledge (ELIK) sponsored program is strongly encouraged by Friday, September 17 so the ingredients list for the two featured recipes along with the cooking instructions can be shared in advance of the class.

To sign up for this free class, call the library at 518- 766-3211 or email [email protected] by Friday, September 17.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fund for Columbia County of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, as well as funding from the Bank of Greene County. The library is grateful for this support.
