The Zero Waste movement, both nationally and internationally, recognizes that it is a process of change that can yield significant economic, environmental and community benefits. Even small changes have a bigger impact than you would realize. Focus on reducing your waste, don’t worry about totally eliminating it, and everything will fall into place in time.

Stephanie Sussman and Dee Duckworth are members of Zero Waste Columbia (ZWC), a citizen volunteer group committed to education and action that can move us toward zero waste in Columbia County and seeking to create a more sustainable and resilient world today and for future generations. Zero Waste means we aim to send nothing to the landfill. We reduce what we need, reuse as much as possible, minimize waste, and recycle and compost whenever possible.
