A Return to Realism with Arnon Moscona

Sunday November 10, 2024 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Realism painting

Artist Arnon Moscona will be sharing his mesmerizing work and discussing his unique creative process in a charming talk at the North Chatham Free Library on Sunday, November 10 at 3:00pm.

In the 20th century, painting, sculpture and many other art forms have experienced several great revolutions. This culminated in movements like modernism, abstract expressionism, and minimalism dominating the conversations, the gallery world, museums, and public perception and taste. Classical forms, techniques, and approaches have largely been discarded to the wayside as “no longer relevant”.

But in the last few decades representational art, realism, and classical technique – with a contemporary subject matter, message, and concerns – have made a large comeback. As an artist trained in classical techniques, mainly Italianate Renaissance and related techniques, Arnon’s work leans on a long tradition of painting that harkens back to the old masters while speaking of today’s sensibilities and today’s people. He is inspired by the inner lives of people and the stories that only their faces can tell.
