Hello Bookstore

Sunday September 10 @ 3:00 pm

Adam Zak

Calling all film aficionados and lovers of independent bookstores, make sure to mark your calendar to catch Hello Bookstore, a free, inspirational program by Adam Zax, about overcoming all odds – COVID and Big Box.

Fascinated by the dialogue between people and landscape – the places we can feel – Zax produced this documentary about The Bookstore in Lenox Massachusetts. Working with owner Matt Tannenbaum, the film celebrates the spirit and the inner workings of this type of shop and its importance and kinship within the community it serves and is located. Matt Tannenbaum’s Bookstore remained available to the community throughout the Covid pandemic.

After Zax’s talk, there will be a discussion period whereby Tannenbaum will also participate, and answer questions and provide give ideas about new and interesting books.

Both Zax and Tannenbaum traveled to England to promote the film Hello Bookstore to documentary film lovers in cinemas in several English cities including Manchester, Bradford, Sheffield, Cambridge, and London. Adam B. Zax studied film and creative writing at Emerson College before embarking on a career through the worlds of film production, film programming, creative direction, and writing.

Please consider viewing the film prior to the discussion. Hello Bookstore is available on Kanopy through our website, and through the Mid-Hudson Library System.
