The North Chatham Free Library is in a tiny, rural hamlet and Historic District and part of the Mid-Hudson Library System. Though small, the Library is known for an out-sized offering of programs covering a wide range of topics for a diverse audience.
Position Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in the development and execution of library outreach and programs.
- Staff the circulation desk and provide readers’ advisory, technology assistance and reference services to patrons.
- Work with the marketing committee and library publicist to promote library services and programs.
- Assist in the recruitment, training and supervision of library volunteers.
- In the absence of Library Director, provide day-to-day management of the library to ensure excellent patron service and a warm, hospitable atmosphere.

Required Qualifications:
- Experience working in a library.
- High level of comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new programs and systems.
- Sensitive and clear communication skills.
- Comfortability working with patrons of all ages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an ALA accredited college or university or presently enrolled in a program.
- Experience with Sierra ILS.
- Experience planning and executing programming.
Pay: $18/hour
Hours per week: 15-20
Flexible scheduling, some evenings and weekends required.
